Resource Capacities

Resource capacity is the maximum total daily rate that the resource can achieve in all of the locations in which it is working. You use the Resource capacities data grid to define the capacity of each resource and any changes to the resource capacity over time.

You can choose to define resource capacities using the Resource Capacity data grid, or you can use the spreadsheet view. It is recommended that you use the data grid to define the resource capacities.

To access the spreadsheet view, select Spreadsheet > Enable Spreadsheet Views, and then select the Resource Capacities spreadsheet. When the Resource Capacities spreadsheet is enabled, it replaces the Resource capacities data grid in the Mining, Stockpiles, and Underground tabs.

Columns in the Resource Capacities Data Grid

Column Description
Active
  • Selected: The resource capacity rule is applied to the activity at the locations.
  • Cleared: The resource capacity rule is not applied to the activity at the locations.

Tip: When you clear the Active check box, you make the resource capacity rule ineffective without deleting the rule.

Resources

The resource that represents the crew and equipment.

You can specify multiple resources, but it is highly recommended that you specify one resource per row. In medium-term and long-term scheduling, each resource usually represents a fleet of equipment and crews. In short-term scheduling, each individual machine and its crew are usually represented by a resource.

If you define multiple resources, the Capacity value is applied to each individual resource, not to the combined resources.

Capacity

The maximum capacity of each resource.

Note: The unit for capacity is defined in the Unit column.

Unit

The unit for the resource capacity. Options are:

Materials

The material classes that are counted when determining if the maximum daily capacity of a resource is reached.

If you set a material-specific resource capacity, the mining rate produces a set amount of the specified material per day not a fixed amount of mined material. Materials that do not count toward the resource capacity are still mined by the resource. For example, in a scenario with two materials: ore and waste, if you set a maximum resource capacity for ore, the resource still mines waste material but the mining rate produces a fixed amount of ore per day, regardless of how much waste is mined.

Tip: You can use wildcards to specify more than one material class. To specify the material classes using the Wildcard Expression Builder, click the Ellipsis button.

Date/event

The date on which the resource capacity rule is applied.

You can use a calendar date or an event. The date or event plus the Delay determines the actual start date.

You use the Calendar button to select a date from a calendar. You use the Ellipsis button to select an event using the Event Builder.

Delay

The delay after the Date/event before the resource capacity rule is applied.

The default delay is 0. The delay can be any positive number.

Note: Part days are expressed as decimals, not in HH:MM:SS format.

Usually, delays are used when the Date/event is an event, and the actual date that the event occurs is not known until the schedule is run.

Comments Any notes you want to record about the resource capacity rule.
